MS SALLY TOWNSEND

REGIONAL DIRECTOR, SOUTH AUSTRALIA - JAPAN & KOREA

Sally is a long-term resident of Tokyo and commenced her role of Regional Director, South Australia, Japan and Korea, in March 2019.

With a background in the wine industry, Sally has been actively promoting not only South Australian wine, but South Australia as a source of premium food and beverages in the Japanese market for several years. She is extremely passionate about her home state, South Australia, and is working to open the market for new exporters and help increase the market share for companies already in-market by raising awareness of the South Australia brand.

Sally actively seeks out ways to promote South Australia and encourages South Australians in Japan and Japanese ‘returnees’ here to act as ambassadors for our great state. She is a true believer in the importance of establishing grass roots relationships through education such as sister-school programs that go on to lay the groundwork for long and lasting trade and investment relationships between countries.

She encourages young people to study in Adelaide and vice versa and counts her own experience of coming to Japan as an exchange student and hosting students from her sister school many years ago as a contributor to the success of the South Australian office in Tokyo. Sally is also the Chair of the Australia and New Zealand Chamber of Commerce in Japan.
